Item Option Upgrade

What is "Item Option Upgrade"?

In general, there are 5 different types of weapons and armor in Dekaron that you can obtain from creatures while playing the game - Normal, Magic, Noble, Divine Noble, and Legendary. All of these items, except legendary items, can be refined by adding random qualities. This system allows you to take existing weapons and armor and increase their usefulness in various ways and, when successful, the option upgrade will result in a random improvement to the item.

Learning more about Dekaron item options:

1) Normal item - No existing modifications. Successfully refining a normal item will automatically turn it into a magic item.
2) Magic item - Magic items already have two modifications. Successfully refining a magic item will turn it into a noble item.
3) Noble item - Noble items already have three modifications. Successfully refining a noble item will automatically turn it into a divine noble item.
4) Divine Noble item - Divine Noble items already have four modifications. Successfully refining a divine noble item essentially turns it into a legendary item, which cannot be refined any further.

Note: Legendary items cannot be further refined.

Explanation: You may upgrade any weapon or item of armor that is below legendary status. If the process is successful, the item will gain one modification option and will advance one step in quality - Normal to Magic, for instance, or Magic to Noble.
If the upgrade fails, there are three different possible results, these are described under "Failure results & Penalties" at the end of this section. Also refer to the three screens below for examples of different types of items:
